Real Nappy Week (UK) April 26th-May 2nd
Real Nappy Week 2010 is currently being held in the UK under the theme of “Go Real together”. See their website, Go Real for more information. “Go Real together” is all about engaging the nappying community and spreading the cloth nappy love as a community.
This is an idea that ANN is also encouraging and we will be trying to engage the Australian nappying community at large a little better in 2010. We have some great new State Coordinators on board who are enthusiastic and looking to hold ongoing local events around the country. From local nappy gatherings, to sewing workshops and information sessions, we have lots planned for this year. If there is something you’d like to see in your state, please contact your state coordinator and let them know. We are also on the lookout for local/regional volunteers. So if there isn’t anyone already organising anything in your area, why not take the plunge and check out the information on our Help Wanted Page.
In addition to planning ongoing events, the planning for the ANNs Reusable Nappy Week, to be held October 11-17th 2010, is officially underway with the first planning meeting held earlier in the month via Skype. The theme chosen for RNW this year is “the environment”. There has been a lot of discussion over environmental issues in the past year and with waste management issues currently a big problem in many major cities it is a good time point out that the use of Reusable Nappies are a great way to reduce household waste. In addition, there has been a new environmental study released on the benefits of using Reusable Nappies under Australian Conditions.
We have lots of great ideas for RNW, including a world record attempt, but we could always use more. If you have any ideas, or if you’d like to help out in any way, please contact us through the website and let us know.
