Lara Hopkins honoured;
Lara Hopkins, founder of Oz Cloth Nappies, has been given honorary lifetime membership to the Australian Nappy Network™ in recognition of her years of service to cloth advocacy. Lucy Westerman, one of the ANN Directors, said "We were proud to express our appreciation and gratitude for the amazing and highly regarded resource she established, as well as her voice on various parenting forums and as a representative in on and offline reusable nappy communities."
Lara proudly accepted the honorary membership today, delighted to watch the Australian Nappy Network™ come together and become its first official member. "Ozclothnappies is five years old now, and it's amazing to see that such a small but committed group, only a couple of dozen people at first, has grown so much into a group of over 750 parents. As the other online forums have recognised the value of supporting reusable nappy users, and as the Australian modern cloth nappy industry and our advocacy work has grown both offline and on, the word has spread rapidly."
"I have been especially interested to see the way in which reusable nappy use seems to be a 'gateway' for many parents into leading a more conscious, Earth-friendly lifestyle. The realisation that reusing nappies is simple and viable spreads into other aspects of their lives. The disposable consumer society is no longer necessarily inevitable or desirable; it can be resisted, and in ways that are enjoyable, save money and have potential health benefits. "
